“But what is it you do?”
"But what is it you DO?"
I get asked this question a lot.
Mainly by people who see my social media and they resonate towards my views, attitudes or approaches - but still don't quite know how I could help them.
I've not made it easy at all - I get told all of the time "I want to work with you but I just don't know how!"
Which is shocking for someone giving business advice - to not be able to tell people about their own.
But the answer is both complex and simple.
My expertise is in pulling everything in your world together and making sense of it.
That is being strategic.
It made me a very valuable COO and Chief of Staff (or Chief of Stuff as I prefer to call it).
But it also means that my answer to "what do you do?" can look very generalised and not a niche at all.
"But you must have a specialism!"
I do - I specialise in being able to see everything at once, how they are different, how they are identical, how the pieces fit together.
Looking at everything at the same time and making sense of it – not as easy as it sounds.
Ask any founder who is trying to wear all of the hats in their business – and yet are still missing things.
So what is it I do?
I create a map from the chaos, a strategy for the myriad of threads that must somehow tie together to run a successful business.
The 'dark matter' of business, if you will.
