What's the worst that could happen?

That you are blindsided by an issue you should have seen coming.

Running a business is high stakes and you have to have a certain approach to risk management to even give it a go.

There are areas of the business we don't like looking at, the dark corners of our knowledge, experience or competence.

The fact is, there are always going to be situations and issues that arise that you couldn't have seen coming - it happens.

But in order to deal with these, you need to minimise those things that you really should have had on your radar.

This requires two things:

People around you empowered to tell you what you are missing.

And the self awareness to listen.

You don't know what you don't know.

But someone does.

Avoid being blindsided by your blindspots just because you are not asking for someone to show you.
